Project Summary

Metwide Communications delivered a full turnkey solution for St John Ambulance NSW’s new facility in Macquarie Park. This project included the installation of a comprehensive security system, CCTV with integrated VMS, structured data cabling, and a high-performance Wi-Fi solution. The system was designed to provide seamless management and monitoring, combining access control, fire panel integration, CCTV surveillance, and reliable network infrastructure. Technologies such as HID readers, Hanwha cameras, a dedicated CCTV server, and Integriti Business Edition software were integrated to create a scalable, centrally managed system.

Scope of Works:

Access Control Installation:
  • HID readers were installed at critical access points, ensuring secure entry and exit for authorised personnel.
  • High-security door strikes were fitted to safeguard vulnerable areas.
  • Custom-programmed access cards were distributed to authorised users, allowing controlled access.
  • Integriti Business Edition access control software was installed to provide centralised control and monitoring of all entry points.
Fire Panel Integration:
  • Fire relays were installed and integrated with the access control system, ensuring automatic door release in emergencies.
  • Tactical power distribution modules were installed for reliable power to the fire monitoring systems.
CCTV System Installation with VMS:
  • Hanwha cameras were installed throughout the facility, providing continuous surveillance with night-vision capabilities.
  • A dedicated CCTV server was installed to manage video storage and processing.
  • Integriti Business Edition was deployed as an integrated Video Management System (VMS), allowing seamless monitoring and control of the CCTV system through the same platform as the access control.
  • The system enables live viewing, video playback, and incident management through a single interface.
Alarm and Monitoring Systems:
  • A robust alarm system with motion detectors and sirens was installed to enhance perimeter security.
  • An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) was integrated to ensure the system remains operational during power outages.
Structured Data Cabling:
  • Installation of Cat6 and Cat6A cabling for IT desks, printers, and wireless access points.
  • A 45RU server rack and patch panels were installed to house and organise network hardware.
  • Conduit work and cabling were carefully implemented to provide durable and reliable network infrastructure.
  • As-built documentation and project reports were provided for ongoing system management.
Wi-Fi and Network Switch Solution:
  • Aruba access points were installed to provide high-speed Wi-Fi 6 coverage for both corporate and guest access.
  • Aruba 48-port switches were installed to manage high-bandwidth devices like access points and security cameras.
  • The Wi-Fi network is managed via Aruba Central, allowing seamless roaming and enhanced performance with cloud-based monitoring.
  • An active Wi-Fi survey was conducted to ensure optimal signal coverage and minimal interference throughout the facility.
Testing, Commissioning, and Training:
  • All systems, including access control, CCTV, fire panel integration, and network infrastructure, were thoroughly tested for functionality and compliance.
  • Staff were trained on the operation and management of the systems, including both the Integriti platform for access control and CCTV, and Aruba Central for Wi-Fi management.
  • Full as-built documentation, including schematics, user manuals, and commissioning reports, was delivered to the client.
