All prices include GST. The $300 existing-panel takeover is a one-off activation fee; any dual-path communicator hardware or panel upgrade your home needs is quoted separately before any work starts. Prices are indicative and confirmed in writing after a compatibility check.
Already have a home alarm? We can take it over
If your home already has an alarm, you usually do not need to start again. We check your existing panel, add or upgrade the communicator and connect it to the A1-graded control room, keeping your sensors and cabling in place wherever we can.
The $300 one-off activation covers the compatibility check, programming the communicator to your home profile, staged test alarms with the control room and go-live sign-off. From there it is the same flat $39.95 per month monitoring. If your panel is too old to talk to a modern communicator, we quote a like-for-like upgrade up front before any work starts.
How home alarm monitoring works
From the moment a sensor trips at your home, every step is verified, timed and recorded.
1. Event detected
A door contact, motion sensor, glass break, panic button or smoke sensor trips. Your alarm registers the event and prepares to signal out.
2. Signal transmitted
The communicator sends the event over dual-path signalling: primary IP plus 4G backup. If either path drops, the other carries the signal through.
3. Operator receives
The signal arrives at SMC Monitoring's A1-graded control room. An operator opens the event with your home profile and call list already loaded.
4. Event verified
Using sensor correlation, time-of-day context and optional video, the operator confirms whether the event is real, filtering out a pet or an accidental trigger before anyone is called out.
5. Your call list
The operator works through the contacts you nominate: you first, then a second family member, then a security patrol or emergency services if the event warrants it.
6. Incident report
The full event chain is logged and available to you, useful for insurance and for peace of mind about what happened and when.
